It is his instrument and he told me the story of how when he first recorded this song the studio told him that the Steel Drum was too "ehnic" for them. He had to play the lead on a piano. When the record went gold and he was asked to produce an album they let him play his pan. So if you ever get your hands on both the single 45 and the album...take note. Take a look at this Video. We built two automated guitars for Apple Records around 2001. One was put in the office at Apple records and George Harrison took one home. His widow Olivia still has one in her home in London.
