    Description

    Offered here is  this scarce original , non-dug, gilt brass coat button for a US Artillery officer.
    The button is one of two I currently have listed on eBay.  It measures 21mm, (approx. 13/16")
    and has crisp die struck details front and back. There is some loss to the gold finish and darkening, but the shank is intact and the button displays well. There is one small split in the rim which looks to me to be a manufacturing flaw rather than damage. (see photos) Uniform buttons of this period are very hard to find, especially those which have not been excavated. Offered with no hidden reserve and a low starting bid.
