    stop making buttons in 1850 they made Military buttons
    and more the likely use the military buttons the were rejected
    or made to many of  and use the remaining fill another order . The same style button was use by The Confederate army on Officer uniforms
    This button looks to be from a hunting jacket.
    Theses buttons pop up every now and then ,but rarely in this condition
